Depression Help
Everyone at some stage of their life gets down or depressed
about a situation or an experience that they are currently
having. This is common but when this state of mind
becomes the norm you are probably suffering from the disease
of depression. The problem now is that this insidious
disease is quite often now being diagnosed in our children!!
 As
a sufferer of depression ourselves at some periods of our
life we thought that we understood the disease and how to
recognise it in others. How wrong we were.
Our daughter (see Jessica's
Story) was not only diagnosed with Aspergers which is
high functioning autism, but also with depression. It
was explained to us that it can be quite common that the 2
conditions may go hand in hand. We did notice after a
relatively short period of time after going on prescription
medication, that her mood did improve but she would
occasionally have a melt down. This was not the
depression but the aspergers syndrome. It can be
difficult at times to distinguish which disease is to blame
for these very trying periods.
